About Us

Located at the New Bedford Regional Airport (KEWB) in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Sandpiper Air was founded in 1998 by William N. Whelan. He and his son, William M. Whelan, are successful and established business professionals as well as avid pilots with a combined total of 45 years of aviation experience who understand the business needs of the aviation community.

Sandpiper Air, is known as the "Friendly" FBO on the field and is dedicated to superior, unmatched customer service. We take pride in our name and strive to accommodate all of your flying needs. Our professional staff are here to provide you with a seamless and comfortable transition.

Melissa W. Photo	Melissa Whelan - Office Manager Member of the Whelan family, has been an aviation consumer for 23 years. Fly's with husband, children and dog weekly.
	Mark Cordeiro - Director of Maintenance Mark holds an A&P I/A with 28 years of aircraft maintenance experience and has also taken the Garrett TPE 331 line maintenance training certification. Mark is also Private Pilot and avid motorcycle enthusiast.
Paul A. Photo	Paul Amaral - Parts Manager In addition to being our parts manager, Paul is also working with Mark on his A&P license. He has already passed the Power plant segment and is now working on his Airframe license. Paul is currently serving in the Army Reserve after being honorably discharged as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army.
Kevin P. Photo	Kevin Parker - Avionics and Maintenance Kevin Parker is Sandpipers newest addition to the team. A&P licensed, Kevin also holds a Radio License with Radar Endorsement. He is also an RII Avionics Inspector.
	Kevin Heenan - Line Manager Like Paul, Kevin was also honorably discharged from the Army with a ranking of Sergeant. Kevin is also an Emergency Medical Technician.
	Thomas L'Abbe - Lineman Engineering student at UMass Dartmouth.
